Terms of Service

Welcome to Hegemy. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern the use of the Hegemy mobile application and the hegemy.com website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms without reservation.

1. Who Hegemy is for

Hegemy is a service designed for families. It generates personalized educational audio guides for children aged 4 to 12, based on destinations chosen by their parents.

The primary user of the Service is the parent or legal guardian, who:

• must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a contract;
• creates and manages the account, adds child profiles, picks destinations and authorizes story generation;
• accepts these Terms in their own name and on behalf of each child registered under their responsibility.

Children have no personal account and no password. They use Hegemy via the session opened by their parent, under parental supervision.

2. Description of the Service

Hegemy lets a parent:

• create up to 5 child profiles (first name + age);
• add travel destinations;
• generate personalized audio stories via artificial intelligence (text, narration, voices);
• let the child listen to those stories from the parent's phone.

Content is tailored to the child's declared age. An automated moderation step aims to filter out inappropriate content, but since no automated system is infallible, parental supervision remains recommended.

3. Account creation

The parent can create an account via Apple, Google, or a magic link sent by email. The parent agrees to:

• provide accurate information (a valid personal email address);
• only enter the real first names and ages of children under their responsibility;
• keep credentials confidential and not share the account with a third party;
• inform us without delay of any unauthorized use of the account.

4. AI-generated content

Stories, voices and illustrations are generated by artificial intelligence based on the parameters provided (destination, first name, age). Accordingly:

• content is provided for educational and entertainment purposes, without certified scientific or historical authority;
• despite our controls (moderation, fact-check, AI evaluation), inaccuracies or imperfections may occur;
• synthetic voices mimic human intonations but do not correspond to any real person;
• pixel-art illustrations are generated and may contain stylizations that do not faithfully reproduce real-world places.

If a parent considers any generated content to be inappropriate, they can report it via the feedback button in the app or by contacting me on LinkedIn.

5. Subscription and payment

Some Hegemy features may be offered through a paid subscription via the App Store (Apple) or Google Play. In that case:

• payment is charged to the payment method registered with the store;
• subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24h before the renewal date;
• cancellation and subscription management happen directly from the Apple or Google account settings, in accordance with each store's terms;
• refunds are handled according to the relevant store's policies.

6. Intellectual property

The Hegemy brand, logo, visual identity, source code and interface elements are the exclusive property of Hegemy. Any unauthorized reproduction, modification or reuse is prohibited.

Content generated for a family's private use (stories, audio, illustrations) remains accessible to that family through the Service. Public or commercial redistribution is prohibited without prior authorization.

7. Protection of minors and appropriate use

The parent agrees to:

• preview or supervise a sample of the generated stories before sharing them with their child;
• not use Hegemy to generate content that is insulting, violent, sexual, discriminatory or unlawful;
• report any content that may appear inappropriate for the relevant age range.

Hegemy reserves the right to suspend an account in case of manifest abuse.

8. Limitation of liability

Hegemy is provided "as is". Hegemy shall not be held liable for:

• inaccuracies in AI-generated content;
• temporary Service interruptions (maintenance, technical incidents, AI provider unavailability);
• use of the Service that does not comply with these Terms.

To the extent permitted by law, Hegemy's total liability is capped at the amount paid by the user for the Service over the previous 12 months.

9. Account deletion

The parent can delete their account at any time from the app or by contacting me on LinkedIn. Deletion results in the erasure of child profiles, listening history and associated preferences, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes

Hegemy reserves the right to modify these Terms. In case of significant change, users will be informed by email and/or in-app notification at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by French law. Any dispute relating to their performance shall be submitted to the competent courts, subject to mandatory consumer-protection provisions.
